About Nina….

Nina has a long standing interest in complementary therapies but she initially worked in a more conventional allied medical setting as an Occupational Therapist. Her work experience includes posts in acute hospital settings and also community mental health. She recently returned to work in this field for two years during the pandemic whilst still maintaining her Acupuncture practice. Nina also worked for many years as an Information Advisor for the Disabled Living Foundation. Through Nina’s work in mental health she had the opportunity to train as a Counsellor and worked for a Youth Counselling Service for 7yrs.

Nina’s early interest in complementary therapies further developed through various life experiences including travels in South East Asia. She consequently trained at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine and qualified in 1999. She later returned to the college to work as a practical skills tutor for three years.

Nina practices an integrated style of Acupuncture aiming treatment at the root of the health issue and its manifestation. Treatment therefore incorporates a Five Element constitutional approach and TCM (traditional Chinese medicine). She regularly attends courses to maintain her continuous professional development for example she has extensive further training in reproductive health and also in other specialist micro-systems of Acupuncture such as Scalp Acupuncture which is widely used in China for individuals post stroke, for other neurological conditions, as well as in mental health. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council which oversees an approved standard of training in Chinese and conventional medicine and upholds a strict code of ethics and practice.

Nina was a founding member of the Zita West Network for Reproductive Health and offers support to women through all stages of the reproductive cycle including working with couples trying to conceive naturally or through assisted means such as IVF. Support is also offered throughout pregnancy, peri menopause and menopause.

In addition to this work Nina has a varied caseload working with people experiencing a wide range of other health issues such as arthritic conditions, gastric disorders, migraine and mental health including anxiety and depression. However the beauty of the Five Element model of wellness is the focus on treating the constitution. Many people may not have a particular health diagnosis but seek Acupuncture for it’s potential ability to enhance wellbeing and thereby support one’s immune system.

Please contact Nina to discuss how Acupuncture may benefit any particular health concerns you may have.
